Maninjau Lake
Lake Maninjau a volcanic lake, located at an altitude of 461.50 meters above sea level. The extent of approximately 99.5 km ² and has a maximum depth of 495 meters. The existence of Lake Maninjau created a legend Bujang Sembilan, which is believed by the public about its existence. Once there was a family consisting of 10 men, 9 men and a woman named Sani. Keelokkan Sani looks and behavior into its own allure for a young man named Sigiran. In short they then establish romance. One day they were accused of immoral acts by the footmen.
To prove it, they jumped into the crater of the mountain Review. They swear if they committed acts of immorality then the mountain will not erupt, and if they do not perform immoral acts then this mountain would erupt. Finally, the volcano erupted and the eruption formed a large crater which is then filled by water and became lakes like now.
First President of the Republic of Indonesia Ir. Sukarno in a while visiting Lake Maninjau and amazed by its beauty. To express his admiration for those he wrote a poem which reads "If you eat arai Pinang, eat with a green betel leaves, do not come to the Ranah Minang, if you drop by to Maninjau". Poem written by the first President of the Republic of Indonesia is, quite representative to describe the beauty of natural scenery of Lake Maninjau exotic.
